What students do

Each team runs a small business when something goes wrong. They get a scenario brief and respond in real time, without the whole story. A facilitator runs a clock and drops injects every few minutes, a customer posts online, a reporter calls, the health department shows up, the real cause surfaces. Each inject forces the team to re-triage. As they go they keep a decision log, write the statements they would actually send, and brief their staff.

The skill it builds

Composure. Protecting people before the brand, telling the truth fast, controlling the controllable, and adapting the plan as new facts arrive under a running clock.

The one idea that makes it teach

Protect people first, tell the truth fast.

Under pressure a beginner protects the business: keep selling, stay quiet, deny, hope it blows over. Every one of those feels safe and every one makes the crisis worse. Each scenario is built so the loud, obvious problem is not the real first priority, and the tempting shortcut scores worse than the honest, costly, correct move. The lesson lands in one round.

  • People before brandStop the harm before you worry about reputation.
  • Truth, fastAn honest word early beats a perfect statement too late.
  • Control the controllableYou can't undo it. You can decide the next ten minutes.
How it's scored

Fair, and the same shape every time.

Four criteria, 25% each. There is no single perfect response, clear priorities and honest judgment win.

Protect People First25%

Safety and the people harmed come before revenue and reputation.

Decisions Under Pressure25%

Sound, timely calls with incomplete information. Called for help instead of hiding.

Communication25%

Honest, fast, clear. The right message to customers, staff, public, and authorities.

Composure & Adaptation25%

Calm under fire. Updated the plan as new facts arrived.

The worlds

Scenarios that escalate

The Bad Batch
A café food-safety scare as a reporter arrives and customers post online.
Built scenario
Three more scenarios
The Breach, The Walkout, The Storm: a data breach, a staff walkout, a disaster.
Progression
The injects
A fixed, timed sequence of developments the facilitator drops on the clock.
The mechanic

Bring the five to your classroom.

Decide · Investigate · Negotiate · Persuade · Respond
