What we collect, and what we don't

Who runs this site

In the Chair is published by In the Chair Lab, an independent project. Questions about anything on this page, including requests to see or delete your information, go to inthechairlab@gmail.com.

What we collect

Only what you submit through one of the two forms on this site, the packet request and the textbook request. Those forms ask for:

• Your name and email address. Required, because otherwise we cannot reply.
• Your school or institution, and the course you teach. Optional. It tells us which materials are actually relevant to you.
• What you are interested in, and any message you write. Optional.

Nothing else. There is no account to create, no newsletter signup buried in a checkbox, and no hidden field collecting anything you were not shown.

What we do with it

We use it to send you the materials you asked for and to answer your message. If you asked to run a pilot, we may follow up about scheduling one. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your details with anyone for their own marketing, and we never will.

What we do not do

This is worth stating plainly, because most sites cannot say it:

• No analytics. We do not measure your visit. There is no Google Analytics, no pixel, no heatmap, no session recording.
• No tracking cookies. This site sets no cookies at all, and stores nothing in your browser.
• No advertising, and no data sold or shared with ad networks.

Who else touches your data

Two third parties are involved, and it is only fair to name both.

• Netlify hosts this site and receives form submissions on our behalf. Your submission is stored in our Netlify account, and Netlify's servers see your IP address when you load a page, as any web host does. Netlify is based in the United States.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces this site uses. That means your browser requests files from Google, and Google therefore sees your IP address. We do not receive anything from Google in return, and we do not use any other Google service here.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to delete it, or until it stops being useful to either of us. We are one small project, not a database business. If you would rather we did not keep your message after we have replied, say so in the message and we will delete it.

Your choices

Write to inthechairlab@gmail.com and ask us to send you a copy of what we hold, correct it, or delete it. We will do it, and we will not ask you why. If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, this covers your rights of access, rectification, and erasure; our lawful basis for holding your details is your consent, given when you submitted the form.

Students and young people

This site is for instructors and programme organisers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13. The classroom materials themselves need no student accounts, no logins, and no student data: they are printed packets. If you run a pilot with us, any student questionnaire is anonymous and is described in the consent language that comes with the pilot kit, separately from this page.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is significant, and in particular if we ever add analytics, we will say so here rather than quietly editing a sentence.
